CO2 Portable Fire Extinguishers guidelines:

Accommodation spaces, service spaces, and control stations shall be provided with portable fire extinguishers of an appropriate type. One of the portable fire extinguishers intended for use in any space shall be stowed near the entrance to the space.

Carbon dioxide fire extinguishers shall not be placed in accommodation spaces. In control stations and other spaces containing electrical or electronic equipment or appliances necessary for the safety of the ship. Fire extinguishers shall be provided whose media are neither electrically conductive nor harmful to the equipment and appliances.

Portable Fire Extinguisher

When carrying dangerous goods in packed form. Portable fire
extinguishers with a total capacity of at least 12 kg of dry powder or equivalent shall be provided for the cargo spaces. Machinery spaces containing internal combustion machinery shall be provided with a sufficient number of portable foam-type extinguishers or equivalent. Which shall be so located that no point in the space is more than 10 m walking distance from an extinguisher.  There are at least two such extinguishers in each such space.
